That is not the way I wanted to win
It was wrong. It should have been clean. Chalk it up to human error, or the ref’s preference for an old school east coast dynasty; but it was wrong. They were unfair to the Hawks. I am mad for my local team, and I am mad for the Steelers not having a clean win. It robs Bettis of the honor he deserved when the win is tainted. It robs the Steelers of the pride of winning the ultimate game. There will always be a shadow over this win. The refs were wrong. They stripped us of the chance of winning fairly.
Shame on the Refs.
So, (mostly to Jack and FINY) what do you think? What did you take away from the game?

Ok, it wasn't exactly clean football, but you need to look at it this way. The one MAJOR call I can think of off the top of my head that really would have turned the game around was the first Steelers touchdown call. That was iffy, I'll admit. But look at it this way. The Seahawks missed two field goals. And the second touchdown the Steelers scored nothing but legitimate. Add on the third TD, and that first iffy call is completely negated.
Good teams overcome officiating. The refs didn't lose this game for the Seahawks, the Steelers were just the better team.
The officiating was bad, no question. But they weren't the only ones to have a bad game. Roethlisberger had the worst QB rating of any winning QB in the Superbowl - and the 7th worst all time. The Seahawks were dropping balls all over the field, reverting to the type of play that got them bounced in the first round of the playoffs last year. Holmgren and Cowher weren't exactly brilliant either.
But somebody had to win, and the Steelers made some good plays. Willie Parker's 75 yard TD run and Randel El's TD pass were both very exciting. Enjoy the victory and try to forget how ugly it was. :)
